Just dust (fanfic)

Disclaimer: Nothing is mine.
Rating: It's supposed to have sex scene so NC-17
Time: End of season 2, but Faith is already at prison and Initiative's working, but no Riley at all.
It's done for Wolfie's challenge and is completely unserious. It's my way of having fun so it's gonna be dark and a bit depressing. Hope I don't scare everybody away Will be very grateful for your feedback!
Angelus stopped and growled. That's all. Time for regrouping and thinking the whole situation over. He had failed to destroy the world, coz that slayer appeared before he managed to pull the sword out. Spike betrayed him and ran away with Dru. He was going make him pay for it. But Buffy's first. But sun's almost up, time to have some rest and plan the journey in pain for her.
Buffy came into the library and took a seat. The whole gang was staring at her but nobody was speaking a word. No, not the whole gang, Will was missing, still at the hospital. She asked:
- How's Willow? Better?
- More or less. She regained consciousness several times but was too weak to speak with us. - Quickly answered Xander and added - That's a long word consciousness Can't believe I actually said it Even twice! - He laughed nervously and asked - So, have you killed Angelus?
- No.
- No?! Why?
- He managed to escape. All happened too fast, one moment we fought and I started to take an upper hand and next moment he's gone.
- And you just let him go?!
- Xander, I'm very tired. I've stopped Apocalypses one more time and all I want right now is to have a good sleep. Talk later.
Buffy stood up and went away, leaving the silent Scoobies sitting in silence. That's was certanly not the best time for conversation for any of them. In the morning things probably wouldn't be so hard to speak about and they'd talk it over and decide what to do with Angelus who could rush new Apocalypses any moment anywhere. If only he hadn't escaped…But she knew it was a lie. She didn't want to kill him. A part of her was glad that all turned that way and gave her some time. Some time to push all her feelings more far away to back of her mind and build a higher wall around them. That part still has hopes and trust and love. And that part made her stood still and just watching how Angelus ran away. Because inside him was the only man she loved and wanted to be with. With that thought she fell asleep.

Spike was driving away from the battle place, holding Dru tight by one hand. With a bit of luck they'd kill each other - thought he about Buffy and Angelus. Would be great. Anyway better to leave Sunnydale for a moment. Didn't want to meet any of them right now when Dru…He looked at her and noticed that she's awake.
- Spikey, what happened? I felt like my head is ringing about sweet pie we failed to try. Oh, and my tummy's growling. Need some yammies. Right now.
Glad she didn't remember anything. Maybe she wouldn't even remember later. Always liked how her mind's working so much for "never know what gonna happen next".
- Good, my princess. Let's stop and find some bloody foolish yammies on legs but fast - we have to leave the town as fast as possible.
- Something's very wrong…- half-asked half-stated Dru. - Look, a little angel! - And she headed to a girl walking purposeless along the alley. Spike followed her thinking where they would drive after dinner. None of them noticed black shadows of commandos. All that they could remember later were sudden pain that had came from nowhere and black out.
Next morning Buffy woke up from telephone ringing.
- Hello? - asked she sleepily trying not to yawn.
- Buffy, it's Willow. I need to talk to you, it's about Angel's soul.
- You're still at the hospital? I'll be there in a minute. - She rang off and began to dress herself hurriedly. Angel's soul…Praying silently that was the way out from that darkness she has been falling since Angelus return, she came into cubicle. Fragile figure of the friend in the bed made her heart shrink. Willow looked very bad and exhausted, but smiled brightly to Buffy.
- Hey, Xander said you hadn't kill Angelus. It's great!
- Huh?
- I'm almost sure I can bring Angel back. I tried to do it yesterday but was too weak but now I feel better and have all necessary supplies so let's start…
- Hold on a sec, Willow! You're in the hospital and you look sick and the spell can make you feel worse and…what if you fail?
With last words Buffy's voice broke and she's done everything not to cry aloud. That was her last hope. She really doesn't want to hurry up and spoil everything.
- Buffy, - said Willow softly. - I understand what you are afraid of. But I'm really strong enough to do it. And we'd better do it now, before Angelus can hurt somebody again. We all know that it won't take long for him to come up with another horrible plan.

Right now Angelus knew what he was going to do with slayer. And her stupid friends. Gonna start with witch as from the most dangerous one, second will be Giles. No more pet's killing or red roses. The only red thing she was going to see from now and then would be her friends' blood. So…
At that moment the door opened and two humans dressed like lawyers came in:
- Good evening, Mr. Angelus. Our firm Wolfram and Hart wants to propose you a deal you can't reject. We want to hire you to help us decide little problem with the Slayer.
- Isn't that interesting, - said Angelus slowly and watched them waiting for continuation. Always ready to play.
- We know that she made your life here a bit difficult and understand that would be better for all of us to…eliminate her, but…
- But?
- But after her death a next slayer can come and bring the whole pack of new problems. That won't solve the problem. From the other side we propose you to look after the Slayer we have in hand now and try to destroy her from inside. We know that you have a great influence on her…
- ANGEL had, not me.
- So, guess you have to play your cards in such a way that she believes that you and Angel isn't that different as she thought before.
- Never gonna happen - smirked Angelus
- Oh, we know you are a great expert in your business. And we'll help you a bit with idea how to make her believe. Look isn't that going to be a real pleasure to kill in her all that connected her to the world? Wouldn't you enjoy to see her fall as low as it's only possible?
- Have to agree with you, thanks for ideas. But know what else would make me enjoy? See how your necks will snap. Sorry guys, nothing personal but I don't work for anyone.
- We predict your reaction, Mr. Angelus. But wait a minute with that neck snapping we won't ran away and you have a very little time right now because the witch's already started the ritual and in several…to be more specific in 15 minutes you'll be bury deep inside Angel…Or you can take our offer and we give you a protection from that soul-returning spell. Temporary one we must admit, the one that will ware off with our death or in case you'll fail the company. If in the end you succeed in turning Buffy into smb like Faith you'll receive a permanent protection…
- Who's Faith?
- It's another slayer called after Buffy's short death. After her watcher's been killed she slid to our side and helped us with several clients but with all that teen's uncertainty, hormones and looking for her true herself and calling decided to go to prison on her own free will. Too young you should forgive her. We gave her some time for thinking it over and now planning to bring her back. See how opened we are with our future partner. - The lawyer smiled.- You have only three minutes left.
Angelus growled:
- Seemed like I don't have much choice. I agree! Give me that damned protection!
- Sign here and here please. Good. Here you are. Put it in your pocket and try not to lose it, it isn't insurant…
- What?! That's protection? It's just some kind of weed! You'd better pray it work!
- See, if it doesn't, in 2 minutes you won't do us any harm anyway. No-no, just trying to joke here! It'll work I assure you! W&H never fail its clients!

Spike opened his eyes and closed them fast again protecting himself from the hurting bright light. Bloody hell, where's he? He opened eyes a bit and looked around squinting. Empty white room flooded with merciless light and bare walls. One of walls was transparent and looked like a big window. Nobody around. Dru? Where's Dru? Where's he? If that some kind of Slayer's joke…Spike growled menacingly, eyes narrowed. If she hurts Dru that would be the last thing she did in her life. He stood up abruptly and ran to the glass wall. What, stupid bint thought that glass could stop him?! He hit it furiously and screamed in pain almost throwing back to the corner. Electricity! Now he liked the situation much less if it was possible at all. He began to touch walls over trying to find any buttons or anything but the wall was completely smooth.
- Slayer! - shouted him. Bloody hell, what that all means?
- Spike? - Dru's voice was weak and came from behind the left wall. - Spikey, I'm cold.
- Dru, pet, where are you? Are you hurt?
- I'm in the white emptiness and my head is tingling and spinning. And one of walls has teeth.
- I know, luv, don't touch it. Have any idea where this bloody emptiness is?
- Underground, because I can't see stars. And there's a lot of naughty soldiers in it.
- That's right, loads of commando boys, who gonna made you their guinea-pigs and play games with your minds that I think isn't a great deal for you bird and then kill you, like others. - This voice came from behind the right wall and Spike rushed there, pressed his ear to it:
-Who are you, mate?
- I'm a rat. I'm a lab rat, just like the others.
-Others that they've already killed?
- Yeah. And thousands of others who's still not dust and just waits for trip in the vet.
- Vet? And who organized all that fun?
- Who cares? You'll die whoever they are.
- Looks like you got some issues with dying. Very strange for already dead. Anyway, how they are gonna do it?
- They starve you. When you're ready to bite your own arm, they shoot out one of those packets. You drink, and the next thing, you're gone. And that's when they do the experiments.

Lil'*Bit добавил [date]1065970971[/date]:
- I'm very sorry, Buffy. It's like I almost hit the wall through but at the same time I feel that I didn't. I don't know what's wrong. But I'll try again.
- No, Willow, you need rest. - said Buffy looking at blood dripping from friend's nose. - You've done all you can. Just have some sleep and when you'll recover completely we'll do it. But not now.
- OK. - Willow fell down the pillow and closed her eyes. She'd spent all her strength on that spell and nothing. That was very strange but she really couldn't think about it. Couldn't think about anything - thoughts were just dissolving in the fog of pain.
Buffy smiled sadly at Willow who fell asleep at once and thought that she just couldn't wait and risk her friends lives. Had to do it. Had to kill Angelus. She went from the hospital and looked around empty night streets of Sunnydale. They've tried to make the spell work the whole day and she didn't even noticed that it was so late already. Time for hanging on graveyards.
She walked among old tombs searching for fresh ones. But in her head the only thought played over and over - she had to kill Angelus. That's what the slayer had to do, that's her duty, burnt in her brain with thousands of previous slayers. But Buffy Summers wasn't slayer, she was a woman in love and that young woman screamed that she couldn't kill Angel. She tried to suppress that second voice and concentrated on the "right thing to do" one, but that still made her dizzy and drunk with pain.
- Buffy…
She gave a start heard that sad voice that came behind and turned abruptly, stake ready in hand. Angelus. He was standing near the tomb and just watching her, no move, no word more. She couldn't break the silence for several seconds. Then just ran to him and punched in the face. He simply fell on the ground, looked at her and repeated softly:
- Buffy, it's me.
That was not what she expected. She felt her hands were shaking and that next moment she could just break out and cry:
- Angel? How? - her voice sounds weak and shocked. Maybe Willow was wrong? Maybe she hadn't failed? Oh my god…
- I…I don't know…I'm just here…But it isn't as the first time…It's like my control over Angelus sometimes disappeared…I don't know…One moment it's me next moment it's he…
- Willow must have done something wrong…But she'll fix it. Angel, I…Tears finally found their way out and she cried aloud. He held her tight and she lost herself in his arms completely. She didn't know how long she was crying and she didn't care about time. His lips were touching softly her hear, fingers were petting her back, lower and lower and that felt so good…She didn't remember when last time she felt herself so calm and peaceful. Nothing mattered at the moment, when there were only two of them holding each other. Together.

Think it’s time to stop running away – commandos don’t follow us anyway, - thought Spike and slowed down a bit. That was surprisingly easy to fool those soldier boys pretending that he drank their sweet treating reeking of knives and wires, almost snapping several necks at the proper time when they came for a harvest, opening Dru’s and the other vamp cells and hello freedom. He smiled. Not for everybody though – anyway he’s got too many issues with all that whimpering about dying. And if you can call sewers freedom…
- Let’s stop for a sec, luv. Nobody’s after us. – He sat down, pressing his back to the cold wet wall. Dru stopped and sat near to him, eyes peering attentively at his face. She slowly put her hand on his cheek and frowned:
- Why your teeth aren’t sharp anymore?
Spike sighed:
- They are like daggers waiting for piercing into fresh flash, pet. – Hell, after all these years together he’s kinda speaking her language sometimes.
- Spikey, where’s Angelus? Why he wasn’t in the car?
- Have no idea where that stupid puff is. I fed up with his lust games with the Slayer.
We gonna leave that hole and go any place you wish. – While speaking he was kissing her shoulder, lips moving higher and higher to her neck. Dru smiled:
- Pretty picture. But daddy will go with us, we just have to call him.
Spike growled and stood up:
- Dru, no. We don’t need him. He’s no use anyway – all about playing and planning and nothing about all good kill and torture. That soul made him soft and this slayer chick made him lose his mind. We are going alone.
- I’m still hungry. Let’s go up and have some yammies.
- Alright. Hope this time no bloody toy-boys will spoil our fun. But let’s do it fast and then find a new wheels.
Dru nodded in agreement and smiled to herself. All what she wanted was going upwards to the stars because she felt the answers right above her head waiting to be peaked up and eaten.
Spike wished they’d drive away right now – that deal with the slayer, probably angry Angelus or maybe both angry slayer and puff were far enough for him to hurry up and leave Sunnydale. Plus those commandos. But Dru was stubborn and he knew there was no way to make her do something on an empty stomach. One quick hunt and they would be off.

- Buff.
She winced from the sound of his voice. How did he call her?! She threw her head up to look at his eyes scared to see that Angel’s gone. And for one short moment she seemed to notice dark dangerous fire twinkling in the depth, but it disappeared too fast giving place to velvet wet look of lost puppy.
- Buffy, you know I’d better go now.
Back to reality. What was he going to do? Hunting? She tried to suppress suspicion and asked innocently:
- Where do you want to go? Let’s go together. I just can’t leave you alone now after all…what happened. – Memories flashed painfully making her heart shrink.
- I…I don’t think it’s good idea. I was going to buy some blood. – Angel lowered his gaze.
- Great! – Her voice was full of cheerful enthusiasm. – Let’s go! – She took his hand and pulled him after herself. Angel didn’t take a step and freed his hand softly.
- Buffy, it’s me. I know you can’t trust me completely right now. God, I can’t trust myself. But I really can buy a pack of blood all on my own.
- Come on, I do want to. What, are you ashamed? I’m the slayer you know, I’ve seen much more scary things than butcher's shop. – No way she was going to leave him alone. Buffy headed to the place and Angel followed her reluctantly.
- So, tell me how it happened. How…how you came back. I’ll tell Willow and Giles and they’ll figure the deal out and then…What? – Stumbled she over his face expression, full of pain and suffer. She knew the answer before he uttered it.
- Buffy, I killed Jenny and tortured Giles. – Words were fallen down the ground, not seeking for forgiveness but she felt how hard it was for him. – Maybe we should wait a bit with my returning. Maybe forever.
She bit her lip, thinking about lying to her friends. She didn’t want to, but understood that maybe Angel was right. Not about forever though. But they all need some time to make pain not so sharp and memories not too bright. The main thing is that they together. She could ask Willow to try that spell one more time without telling about Angel. They’ll fix it anyway and when she will be sure that it isn’t temporarily she will think about how to explain the whole situation. But not now. Now she was holding his hand and her heart was singing in spite of everything.

- Dru, it isn’t time to be all squeamish. Let’s snack those puppies in love or that chick over there, but bloody hell let’s do it! – They were going along dark alley of Sunnydale, almost deserted in that hour so there wasn’t much choice. But Dru didn’t stop walking:
- We almost there. Look!
- Bucher’s shop?! Bugger it! You are going to BUY blood?! Do you completely lose your mind? What will be next? Showing your game face in the circus for money? – Spike grabbed Dru’s shoulders and shook her up. – Come on, let’s KILL somebody! – Her puzzled look made him cut his speech short. – What’s wrong, pet? – And then he saw what she was staring at. Angelus and the slayer just went out the shop, hand in hand, happy smiles on their faces, carrying full packets of fresh blood. Spike couldn’t believe his eyes. Thinking fast, gazing on lovers reunited wasn’t very safe, so he seized Dru’s hand and draged her away with words:
- So, family meeting ended with happy shopping and surpises. Guess Red managed to return the soul to the wanker after all.
- No, daddy’s home…But he’s hiding, I know. If we search hard…
- Yeah, if we search really hard we turned into dust. We are going away. Now! – They were already rather far from butcher’s shop. He looked around and noticed an old car that was parked near. One minute and they were there. Spike broke the window and saw that actually it wasn’t empty – there was a sleeping driver inside. Even better – food for the journey. He was going to punch his hard in the face when sudden pain made him scream. He felt like his head was hitting with electroshock and brains were burning and melting.
- What the hell is going on?! – Spike tried to overcome pain and come to his senses. The driver woke up and was squealing from fear that was making headache even worse. Dru ran quickly to him and jumped down his throat. The driver brayed several gurgling sounds, blood gushed out his mouth and the squealing finally stopped.
- What the f*** was that? Why I couldn’t kill him?
Dru put her hand on his forehead and was stroking him carefully, fingers almost didn’t touch skin:
- They made a cage inside your head, poor Spikey. And inside mine, too. But it didn’t work. Because my mind didn’t work the way they thought.
- Those damned commandos! They put something in my brains. Oh they didn’t even imagine how painful their deaths will be! But still, why you can kill?
- Because I didn’t kill, I made them angels, I gave them freedom. – Dru smiled, still petting Spike’s cheek.
- Yeah, and they are flying in the sky singing the praises to Saint Dru. Must be a reason…Wait, you do believe it, all that crap about winged little dumbs soaring above your head…That’s all about intentions.

Buffy gave a start and woke up. Where’s she? She looked around trying to figure it out. Dirty walls, dim light, old candles…Must be one of those crypts on the graveyard. Angel? She turned back frantically and saw him sleeping near her side. Good. Yesterday they were on patrol almost all night trying hard to keep themselves busy and then she was too tired to go home so they went to the crypt Angel found after…after his returning. That was so good to wake up in one bed. Or maybe not so good…Buffy felt unconquerable wish to touch his skin and to feel its coolness. Her palms were burning and itching, begging for action. Her hands started to move on their own will and…She snatched it away and jumped from the bed. Coolness? Action? Washing herself would be just right. She hoped there was some water in that hole. Several minutes later she understood that her hopes were vain. That sucked.
- Buffy? – Angel’s voice sounded sleepy and soft, but it was so sudden that almost made her jump. – What are you doing?
- Right before jumping I was happily doing nothing. Got suggestions? – It came up as something naughty though she didn’t mean anything like that. Or did she? She felt her throat was dry. Come on, Buffy, think about harmless and innocent things you could do together. – Patrolling? – added she a bit too quickly.
Angel looked at her strangely:
- Buffy, it’s morning.
- Oh…Then, you know I probably should go home. Mum will worry. – Said she but didn’t move and just stared him. Angel stared back. Silence was thick and disturbing. She knew she needed to say something but every phrase that formed in the back of her mind sounded either awkwardly or ambiguously and he didn’t help at all just laying there half-naked and looking at her with those dark calling eyes of his. Just a goodbye kiss and I’ll be off – thought Buffy and came to the bed slowly. What, they kissed hundreds times and she always managed not to lose control over situation completely. She didn’t think about anything but a kiss, one quick pure innocent kiss, light touch of lips to his cheek and that’s all. She bend forward to Angel, but instead of cheek her lips found his mouth and he answered willingly, pulling her face closer, strong hands on her neck. She even didn’t notice that she was already lying in bed, pressing herself to his body. His lips moved lower to her neck making her moan with pleasure.
- Angel…gulped Buffy and came to her senses. Wait, what I’m doing?! What you are doing?! – She freed herself abruptly and jumped from bed. – How could you!
Angel gave her his best puppy look:
- Buffy, I didn’t mean to…
She stared at him for a moment, lips trembling, tears in eyes, trying to suppess lust, then stormed out from the crypt.

Good whisky, - thought Spike and downed the bottle the table, trying not to produce any noise – Dru was sleeping. And he should too, that was day after a long sleepless night spent in the car driving away from Sunnydale. Commandos could wait. He couldn’t harm a fly anyway because of that bloody chip. He managed not to growl despite the rage rising at the thought. Let him only get it out of the brain and he’d be back, with decent presents for every of them and…Dru giggled in her sleep and Spike winced from the sudden sharp sound. Stood up and approached the bed she lied on, face not peaceful even in rest, mouth half-opened, lips moving almost not distinctly. Was she giggling at his threats of coming back? There was nothing for them in that hole but the chance to win the prize Sunnydale Biggest pile of dust of the weak. Bollocks! Spike shook his head wondering what a rubbish could come to mind sometimes. She probably dreamt about their little party they had in that crypt several hours before – wasn’t it good that those graveyards near highways always had comfy empty crypts for traveling vamps to have a decent rest in during the day? America’s country of great possibilities for all. Two idiots stopped to help them with the car near that graveyard didn’t miss a chance to be invited to the party and brought some fun and screams of pain in that too silent and boring cemetery. But listening to music and playing in band feels rather different…No, nothing wrong with watching tortures, Dru was a real artist and very inventive, but he NEEDS to kill! And drink from dead body – the fact alone made blood tasted like crumpled paper. And Dru going all caring on him reminded him that time she had brought a puppy to feed him like a sick nancy-boy…He had spent the bloody eternity in wheel chair thirsty for a good hunt and blood-spilling and now that chip! Agrr…He had no idea how to get rid of it. And he had no idea where they were going…He had planned to go to Mexico before those soldiers made him toothless and…He gave a start when felt cool touch of Dru’s fingers on his cheek – didn’t notice when she woke up.
- Spike, my sweet boy, why you don’t sleep?
- Got thirsty. – He pointed at the empty bottle.
Dru was watching him for a sec, then smiled:
- That’s that chip ruined your sleep. Poor Spikey! Can’t kill! Can’t hunt! - Her head twitched with every phrase imitating pain he had experienced already. – That’s OK, I can play for us both. – She started to pet his cheek again but Spike turned away from her angrily. Dru turned his face back to her making his lips to trace their way on her neck and he obeyed as usual hungry for her body. While his mouth was busy, Dru continued to talk:
- We painted the road in red on our way back. And you will conduct the chorus, tasting every singer. But now angels waiting for us.
That was the last thing Spike wanted to hear right now.
- Not bloody likely! And no more word about the poof!
- Not daddy, angels.
- Uh-huh. That’s great, luv. But let’s talk about your feather friends later. – Said Spike and kissed her roughly. Her moaning had much more sense right now.

Lil'*Bit добавил [date]1065971330[/date]:
The whole day passed like in fog. Hot palms, burning brains, blurry vision…Buffy was making clever face and nodding to Willow, but daydreaming enveloped her, making her heartbeat faster and the only thought pumping in sticky mist was “ night is soon”.
- I know, you were repeating it the whole day. Why are you so eager to patrol? –
-
- Huh? – Buffy finally came to the surface of real life and now was staring blankly at Willow’s concerned face trying hard to figure out what they were talking about.
- You’ll find him I’m sure. – That didn’t help much to Buffy and as far as she showed no reaction Willow continued: - I mean Angelus.
That’s good that best friends always have their own versions of what’s happening with us. Saying nothing is not the same as saying lie, is it? But it still felt bad. Her thoughts must have been reflected on her face somehow because Willow added:
- Don’t come too hard on yourself, that’s not your fault. If you want, I can go with you tonight.
- No, - answered Buffy a bit too quickly and explained: - That’s too dangerous to have you there.
- OK then. If you need my help I’ll be in Giles’ – he wanted me to sorted some old books.
- Sounds like fun for you.
Willow smiled brightly, waved her hand and headed to the library.
Home, stakes – ready to patrol. That was like some kind of the ritual. She performed it tonight too. But she really wasn’t sure that ritual would lead to slaying of any demon. They needed to talk the situation up. You know that kind of talking that didn’t end with cuddling in bed but with right decision what they have to do. She didn’t want to lie to Scoobies, she was scared of yourself for not being able to stop thinking about Angel and that fatal night and not being able to control herself last time. There should be some way out, it had always been, they just need to figure it out. She walked through the graveyard towards Angel crypt and was trying hard to come up with some proper line to start the conversation. Well, she didn’t succeed so far. After all she was more of action girl and usually just came straight to business. She stopped near the door of his crypt girding herself up and then opened it. There was rather dark inside and calm. Looked completely abandoned.
- Angel?
No answer. Buffy looked around waiting for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. The place was much worse than comfy room in the Bronze Angel had lived before. And it did look like nobody lived in even vampire. Maybe that night was the only Angel spent here? Her slayer’s instincts finally forced out all her thoughts about his body and she gripped the stake tighter. Maybe something happened to him…Or somebody…
She snapped around from the sudden sound of the door shut.
- Buffy. – Angel smiled. – You came earlier than I expected.

- Wake up, night is young and calling, road is straight, stars are whispering,..
Spike opened his eyes and saw Dru’s excited face who continued to spout off about night goodness.
- Ok, princess, I get it, I get it! – Almost growled he. – Time to go. The question is where…
- To meet angels! – Dru giggled happily.
Bloody hell! That idea stuck in her head fixedly:
- Come on, luv, that’s not the moment I want to chatter about birdy birds you gave wind under the wings. Whatever. We’ll see it along the way.
- Along the way to the city of angels. Not that angels that are flying above, but naughty ones, trading souls and lives, you’ll like them because they like chaos.
- You mean LA. – realized Spike. – What, you had a vision? That’s where I can get rid of that soddin chip?
- I had a dream. – Smiled Dru. – Colorful and bright, fat with promises. Promises of fun and Apocalypses. – She giggled again. – We gonna have a party with the Law.
- Don’t give a sh*t about the whole world end right now! Was there something about that chip?!
- Hush, my deadly boy. We have to go there. That’s where things’ll get better. – Dru voice fell to whisper.
- They’d better. – Spike sighed. Dru’s visions were almost always right, so that was something for a start. – So, - added he much brighter, let’s go to LA!
That took them a several minutes to get to the car, leaving that crypt behind, two dead bodies left on the floor. While Dru was singing some gibberish about lost lambs in the wood and rough lemons on the lips, Spike was thinking about LA. He had heard some rumors about that big evil law firm, something like Wolfandblood or whatever, big nibs with connections to the hell. Serves demons of any kind and variety for not reasonable fee. Dru probably meant them. So, money…weren’t a problem as usual. Guess they’d have to drop at some reach place and gathered a bit of cash. Dead deads never need them after all.
- Lambs and wolves, they don’t seek for gold, they seek for souls and death, Spikey.
Spike winced at her answer to his thoughts. Sometimes he did think that she could read his mind and sensed future even without visions. And still she was so blind…
- That’s even better. Hunting and spilling blood of some innocent to the altar of layers. – He sighed realizing that he couldn’t allow that kind of fun to himself. – You’ll do it, princess.

- Where have you been? – Buffy looked at him a bit scared. Scared of his smile that reminded not Angel’s one.
- Had things to do. – Smile didn’t leave his face, eyes dark and waiting focused on her reaction.
- What…things? – Voice broke at the most impropriate moment, and her fear emerged for a sec from the mask of ready-steady girl. It seamed to her that Angel was now trying hard not to burst laughing at her face. He kept her suspended a bit more and than suddenly danger had gone, smile was deleted.
He sighed and mumbled:
- I know one warlock here, thought he could help me to figure out what happened with Angelus. Paid him a visit.
- And?
- He wasn’t that much of help. Some spell went wrong, two sides interacted. It can ware off or last forever.
- Not very inspiring, - said Buffy. – But that your witch man, he can be wrong, can’t he? I can try to search in Giles’ books…
- Buffy, don’t. Don’t fool yourself. It’s very dangerous.
- Come on, I’m not that bad with books as you think.
- Me. I am dangerous. Here – and he threw a stake to her.
She caught it reflexly but than dropped it down using all her will to make the sentence emotionless, rage controlled:
- And you think I can kill you?
- You have to. You are the Slayer. – A shadow of smile touched his lips again, eyes never broke contact with hers, bitter darkness.
- I am Buffy. – said she still emotionlessly, but pain hidden seized from every sound. Silence fell and broke into thousands of screaming and spinning echoes. She was ready to fight against him for his life that’s all what she knew right now. But she wasn’t ready to hear his next words.
- That warlock also said that as far as it wasn’t a curse that brought the soul back, it works differently. That moment of true happiness…not the point any more.
Now she was lost for words. And he didn’t wait for her to come to her senses, he just appeared behind her and she felt a soft kiss on the her neck. It chilled her spine and froze remains of her common sense completely. Softness of his lips turned to greediness fast and with feeling that the whole world was spinning around her she quickly turned to him and found a hold using the only stable way – put her hands round his neck, pressing tightly to his body. None of them could waste a second scared that it was just another dream hidden in subconciousness and hurried up to see it to the end before something would break it to pieces. Clothes were tore up, and they both gasped at amazement and pleasure when finally hunger was deadened and their movements became slower but the dream was still continuing and they held each other eyes never breaking contact drinking greedily every moment of that madness.

- So, how can I help you, sir?
- Get that soddin chip out of my brain, brainy boy. – Spike was pacing room impatiently. Bloody hell, he’d spent a lot of time and money to get to that layers sanctuary and now that greenhorn git was just sitting on his ass and asking stupid questions for like forever. – Should I repeat it slower?
- I totally can understand your indignation about that regrettable hindrance, but I have to admit that it’s not the area of law. If only you don’t want to sue Initiative for maiming and moral damage, that is not quite possible I believe with you being a vampire.
- I don’t want them sued I want them dead you stupid blighter! Get that bloody chip out whatever it takes! – Spike threw money on the table
- Still don’t see why you came to us, Mr. Spike. Tried any warlocks? Scientists?
- I came here because you have all of them, right? That and my girlfriend had a vision.
- Interesting. Your girlfriend has visions? Is she a seer?
- Yeah. And much more. She can wrap your insides around your neck if you…- Sound of ringing phone didn’t give him possibility to finish the picture.
- Excuse me, Mr. Spike. – That talk took a several minutes and only one word from the lawyer: - Yes. – I think we can help you, Mr. Spike.
- Finally! How much?
- We don’t need your money.
- Even better. Who Dru has to kill?
- It’s not that simple. We need you to go through some trial and win yourself a soul.
- What?! You can’t be serious! No way I will follow the puff!
- If you mean Angel we have other plans for him. And this is the only way for you to get rid of your little problem: you get your soul, play on our side when Apocalypses comes and you are free.
- How I can be free with SOUL? Oh wait, I’ll do Buffy. Never is not strong enough word here. And you are stupid git! How can you be sure I’ll play on your side when I get a shiny little soul of my own? What I if I become a guy with the Mission? Crazy about saving a world does it ring a bell for you?
- Reasonable questions. First, you won’t be cursed so all that “moment of happiness” won’t help you. Besides, why do you think the Slayer can make you happy? No-no, none of my business.
- Gee, sometimes you do think fast. But why not to save time and not to curse me? Dru will return me then easily. – Spike smirked.
- We have to be sure you are the one, the worthy. And about your second point…Yes, you will have a very strong wish of world saving and such. But that’s a risk I guess. Besides, Dru will stay with us. Save the world – get your love dusted.
- I’d say you are an idiot but I don’t want repeat myself. I’ll nock another door.
- Good luck, Mr. Spike.
