Как видите, мой малыш пользуется заслуженным успехом. И при этом, по словам очевидцев, ни капли не зазвездился, довольно скромно относится к своей персоне.

David Boreanaz European Event - 29th - 31st August 2003


Saturday 30th August 2003 Day Event (Go to Sunday - Go to Friday)
David was running late again - not due to bad weather on this bright and sunny morning. People were left hanging until around 11.00am. He received a rapturous welcome naturally, however the schedule was non-existent again. Let's just say that Jealous should be cut some slack because David's management is certainly not above any criticism. The result of all this was more dissatisfied people, more compensations for the company to handle and more chaos. I kept enquiring as to when the Reception would be held and was told it would be put over the tannoy in the main hall. WRONG!
Just before David came out on stage, the announcer said we'd have 45 mins Q & A with David and then VIP reception ticket-holders were to go up immediately he'd ended. Result was that many of us rushed up as told, caught 5 mins of David, no food and no guests because they'd been up there while David was on stage. Many missed this and as we were still going to be in Brighton we were compensated with more supporting cast autos/pics, tickets to the Sunday and VIP Reception tickets to the Sunday (so that's how come I was there for the 3 days!). If Jealous Events are not running at a loss by now, I'd be surprised.
Mind you, luck did strike once again. Glenn recognised me as a double-ticket holder, having been AAA from the Friday and made certain that I had a photo etc at the reception...
David's Question & Answer Session
(Please note that this is from memory, not in any order and not quoted literally)
1) David was asked which 3 items he would take to a Desert Island with him like the Radio Show. He pondered for a while and then asked if people were allowed. When told they were, it was easy! Jaime, Jaden and a large bottle of sunscreen!
2) Which Buffy or Angel character would he like to play other than Angel? Giles because he's cool. David went on to say that he'd learnt a lot from Tony as an actor and as a person.
3) Who would he like to work with? Gary Oldman, Colin Farrell, Renee Zellwegger and Vince Vaughan.
4) A Question was asked about Vincent. David said that he enjoys working with him - that they have good chemistry and bring out the best in each other.
5) Favourite Episodes from Angel and Buffy: AYNOWYEB, IWRY and Amends.
6) Regarding C/A: Relationship with Cordy is "interesting" and "not as deep". Angel has moved on although he's unhappy she's in a coma.
7) Regarding B/A: He thinks that they will be reunited for a couple of episodes and believes that they will end up together.
At the moment for Season 5 Angel wonders why he has control over Wolfram & Hart and that there is "something going on behind the scenes". Angel and Spike will be sparking off one another - calling each other names etc.
8) Asked for Acting Advice: Have fun, be impulsive, enjoy yourself. He was keen to stress that Angel did not fall into his lap (when this was suggested). The interview did but he still had to go in there and earn the part. He mentioned that on his first night of filming he was supposed to start at 10.00 but didn't actually start to film until 4.00am.
9) A young girl who was celebrating her 16th birthday and a Bride-to-be complete with hen party were invited onto stage. They wanted to know how he'd spent his bachelor party but David admitted "he couldn't really remember."
10) Favourite hobbies: Golf and Ice-Hockey with the latter being his number 1. He is playing more ice-hockey at present.
11) Countries he likes to visit are Ireland. He'd shoot Angel in Ireland.
12) Asked about which episode he'd be directing and which scenes of Season 4 he did: David is now set to shoot Episode 10 of Season 5 and not episode 7. That has changed. Last year he directed several shots. He says that he will have to jump back and forth between Angel and directing but feels that he now has the experience to be able to do this after four seasons of the show. He says that he directed some of the Gina Torres 'face-changing' shots on the balcony for example.
13) He was asked his most supernatural experience? Strange dreams - (laughs) - Wicked dreams.
14) Asked about what he thinks about during love scenes? "What do you you think I think of? Thoughts, good thoughts - wicked thoughts."
15) Which female character would he like to play? He didn't know but Harmony was returning and she's hysterical. But he doesn't know.
16) What does he do in his spare time? Loves to play with his son.
17) Person he'd like to meet Alive and Dead: Dead = his father's mother whom he never knew. Alive = actually stumped.
18) Regarding Stunts: David says he does 50-60%. He'd love to do more but the show will shut down if he's hurt. He is currently suffering from his knee injury - an old football injury he got 18 years ago.
19) How long does it take to do his hair? 2 mins - just put gook in hair and mess it up.
20) Is the tattoo real? He stood up to take his shirt off but then said that the guy in front with a camera kept him from removing it!
David took some time out to thank people for coming. He said that his father taught him to talk to people and that was what he really wished he was able to do here. He explained that he couldn't as time was limited abut that he really appreciated everyone coming out to be there.
21) Angel or Angelus? Angelus
22) Good Girls or Bad Girls? Bad Girls
23) Buffy or Angel? He likes to work period.
24) Will there be a Valentine 2 - the questioner liked him in the movie.
"No" He thanks the person who asked for the compliment.
Additional things remembered and how on earth I could forget these personal tidbits, I don't know?
David said that unfortunately his beloved dog, Bertha Blue, had passed on about two months ago. He also answered a question on favourite demons on the show and movingly spoke of how he automatically thinks of Glenn Quinn.
You could tell that Glenn's untimely death has really cut David up.

Я рада, что хотя бы не одна. В какой-то момент меня посетила мысль, а для кого ты все это оставляешь, а потом подумала, что желающие увидеть найдутся.
Я уже неделю наслаждаюсь клипом Дайдо. Я закачала этот немалый клип - 10 Мг, но не думала, что он мне так понравится!

The WB: Speaking of which: Will she or won't she be jumping into the mix?

А они Баффстер прокатили со всеми номинациями, хоть и незначительными - за визуальные эффекты! Они всегда недолюбливали моих любимцев!

Are fangs what they used to be? David Boreanaz looks at the changing circumstances of Angel in both 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel' and at where the character might go next. Steven Eramo made sure it was daylight when he talked to him...

On his debut:

"I was hungry, and by that I mean creatively," recalls Boreanaz. "As an actor, I wanted to step up to the next level and take on some new challenges. I'd been doing plays at the time and this role of Angel came along. I was intrigued by the character and quite liked him. My manager back then arranged a meeting for me with Buffy casting director Macia Schulman. I read for her and was asked to come back in to audition for the show's producers and subsequently the network executives. Not long after, I received a phone call telling me I had the job."

The actor chuckles when asked about his first day of work on the Buffy set. "What sticks out most in my mind is all the waiting around. We didn't get to my scenes until three or four in the morning, which I guess made sense given I was playing a vampire," he jokes. "It wouldn't have been so bad except that I'd been on the set since eight the previous morning. The wait was worth it though, because when we shot my first scene as Angel it really worked.

"Those early days on Buffy were especially satisfying. I just loved the connection I had with the rest of the cast. It was uncomplicated and professional as well as a hell of a lot of fun. That's not to say it didn't get even better as time went on, but it just felt extra-special in the beginning. Joss Whedon [executive producer] had created not only a new TV series but one that was also ground-breaking, so I was just enjoying myself."

"I liked the simplicity of the Buffy/Angel relationship in the first year," says Boreanaz. "They shared a camaraderie and it was obvious that they were both at ease around each other and really enjoyed their work. As an actor it was a joy for me to feed that creative process. A number of positive things came out of Buffy's first season and they served to build a solid foundation on which the series could grow."

On moving across to his own series:

"Naturally, I was thrilled about Angel," says the actor. "However, I was so focused on working on Buffy that I didn't think much about it at the time. I have a general sense of where I'd like to be career-wise, but I think what makes an actor happy is what he or she is doing at the moment. That, in turn, I believe helps dictate your future moves and career choices. I hope that doesn't sound artsy-fartsy. It's not meant to be. It's just my way of looking at the business. So I kept my nose to the grindstone and this spin-off series sort of came to fruition."

Boreanaz experienced deja vu when filming Angel's Season One opener City of... "Like that first Buffy story, there was a great deal of waiting around," he notes. "It took, I think, 10 days for us to film City of... compared to the eight that it takes today. There was plenty of communication between the cast and crew as well as a strong director in Joss Whedon. He knows exactly what he wants and where to put the camera, which is refreshing. Again, as with Welcome to the Hellmouth, this episode of Angel was both an exiting and fearful step into a new venture."

Considering all he's been through, it's no surprise that Angel is not the same person he was back on Buffy. "It's difficult to believe that my character started out as a recurring role," muses Boreanaz. "Angel has grown and developed so much just from his relationships with other people and being involved in so many different situations. When we first met him, he was a somewhat bland and darkly-driven person, and since then he's lightened up a bit and has become a more complex character. As an actor, one of the challenges with Angel is to keep him understated. Sure, it's fun when I get to play his obnoxious over-the-top alter ego Angelus. However, it's important to me tht he comes across as quiet but very strong. My approach to playing Angel changes with every episode. It's pretty much determined by the way in which the writers are trying to tell the story and how my character deals with the situation at hand."

In the fourth season of Angel, Cordelia is possessed by the dark side. She and Connor sire a child who quickly grows to adulthood. Jasmine turns out to be an incredibly powerful entity who is determined to take over the world and destroy Angel.

"When I first read the Jasmine story arc I was worried it might get a little too weird," explains Boreanaz. "However, it turned out pretty good. Initially, Angel's and Jasmine's relationship was euphoric and full of sentiment. Towards the end though, it turned quite volatile when he discovered who she truly was. It was a pleasure working with Gina Torres. I thought she made some very thought-provoking choices when playing her character. Gina is a very strong, confident woman and she brought those characteristics to her performance.

"Overall, I was pleased with our fourth year. I was thrilled that Angel stopped whining about his rocky relationship with Connor and kept more of an open mind to the challenges that lay ahead with regard to his son. I also liked that my character cooled his jets as far as he and Cordelia were concerned. I realised Angel pressed a little too hard at times. One thing that may have hurt the show was the amount of exposition and complicated storylines, especially where first-time viewers were concerned. That's something we'll watch out for in future."

Looking ahead, what are the actor's hopes for his character in Angel's fifth season? "I just want him to continue to grow. Along those lines, I'd also like to see Angel work more with the community at large and not just the community from within, meaning his teammates. So we'll see. One thing viewers can count on, though, is that our writers will keep on surprising them and, together with the cast and crew, make the best show possible."
